HAM+ and ve2nir.ca Privacy Policy

Effective October 21, 2026.

Who is responsible. Louis Gingras (VE2NIR), PLG Multiservices, Marieville, Quebec. Person in charge of personal information: Louis Gingras. Contact: support@ve2nir.ca.

What the HAM+ app sends to ve2nir.ca

  • a device code drawn at random when the app is installed (nothing taken from your phone);
  • the device model (e.g. “Apple iPhone”) and system (Apple or Android);
  • the app version;
  • when something goes wrong: short technical codes (e.g. “dmr”, “son”), the network type (Wi-Fi or cellular). They contain neither your voice nor your passwords;
  • if you tap “Report a problem”: a report with the device model, the system and app versions, the connection type, the radio network and tab open, the state of access, microphone and car, the screen size, the language, the time, and the last 200 lines of the app log. Callsigns, numbers, Internet addresses and emails are masked in it;
  • the Internet address the device connects from.

Why: to know whether the device is allowed, to stop it in case of abuse, to fix problems.

What the ve2nir.ca site keeps

  • Your account: callsign, name, email. Address and phone only if you give them. Your language. Your password, encrypted (we cannot read it).
  • The photo or PDF of your certificate, if you send it. Only the administrator sees it.
  • Your devices: code, model, version, last visit, last Internet address, state (allowed or stopped).
  • Your sign-ins to the site: date, Internet address, approximate city and country.
  • A log of actions on the account (registration, approval, deletion).

What stays only on your device

Your DMR ID, your BrandMeister, EchoLink, AllStarLink and Icom passwords, your memories and settings. They go only to the networks you choose, never to ve2nir.ca.

Radio networks. When you connect, the app talks directly to those networks (BrandMeister, EchoLink, AllStarLink, YSF and M17 reflectors, your Icom radio). Their own rules apply. The app may also read a station’s name on radioid.net from its DMR ID.

Callsign check. At registration, the site looks up the public amateur radio registry of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada and QRZ.com.

What we never do

  • No selling or sharing of your information.
  • No ads, no tracking, no audience-measurement tools in the app.
  • No location, no access to your contacts or photos.
  • The microphone is used only while you talk.

Payment (App Store). Apple handles the purchase. We see neither your name nor your card.

Payment (Android, PayPal). HAM+ for Android is bought on ve2nir.ca, through PayPal. PayPal handles the payment: we do not see your card. For each purchase, the site keeps: the date, the sale number, the PayPal numbers, the province chosen, the country given by PayPal, the price, the taxes, the total, the state (paid, refunded), the device bought and your account. Neither your name nor your PayPal email is kept.

Where the information is. On ve2nir.ca servers, in Quebec.

How long

  • Your account: as long as it exists. You can delete it at any time (ve2nir.ca/en/delete-my-account/).
  • A pending device never activated: erased after 30 days.
  • Technical logs: 12 months at most.
  • “Report a problem” reports: 90 days at most.
  • PayPal purchases: as long as the account exists. After it is deleted, what tax laws require stays, without the account, 6 years after the end of the year of purchase.

Your rights (Quebec Law 25). You can ask to see your information, have it corrected or erased, or withdraw your consent. Write to support@ve2nir.ca. Answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.

Incident. If a serious incident affects your information, we notify you and the Commission.

Children. HAM+ is meant for amateur radio operators. We do not knowingly keep anything about a child.

Changes. The date at the top changes. An important change is announced on ve2nir.ca.
